NORMAN – The Head of the Colorado, an annual regatta for the OU rowing team, has been canceled due to flooding. The races were scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31 at Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas.
On Friday, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department observed dangerous lake conditions at Lady Bird Lake and ordered a cancellation of the regatta. The Head of the Colorado would have marked the first competition for the OU novice rowing team, who was scheduled to race three boats in the competition.
The Sooners will close their fall season in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the Head of the Hooch, slated for Nov. 7-8.
