OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – University of Oklahoma senior guard Sharane Campbell-Olds has been selected as one of 30 student-athletes to be considered for the 2014-15 Senior CLASS Award in women's college basketball.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Campbell-Olds has thrived academically, being named to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 first team, named a three-time Sooner Scholar and three-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor honoree and has been named to the Dean's Honor Roll once.
The lone four-year senior on the Sooners squad has also had many opportunities to volunteer in her OU career. She is actively involved with Special Spectators and has made two trips to Haiti to work a week in relief efforts with other Sooner student-athletes. She is a popular and frequent visitor to Children's Hospital and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity's Rebuild Moore in 2013.
The guard has also undertaken several efforts to raise awareness and money to fight SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) in memory of her five-month-old nephew, Kuron, who died in his sleep in October 2011. She has committed to using her platform as a student-athlete to bring attention to the condition and families who suffer through it.
In her final season on the hardwood, Campbell-Olds has started all 18 games for the 24-ranked Sooners. She is averaging 10.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. She currently ranks 19th in Oklahoma's career scoring with 1,268 points.
The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2015 NCAA Men's Final Four® and NCAA Women's Final Four®.
Each of the 30 candidate classes will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.

Note: Four-time All-American Courtney Paris was named the 2008-09 winner of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
