Fall Schedule Released as Camp Opens

NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma softball team opened fall camp Thursday in advance of their eight-game fall schedule, which was also released Thursday by head coach Patty Gasso.

The fall schedule starts the weekend of Sept. 26-28 with the annual Fall Festival Tournament at Marita Hynes Field. Oklahoma opens play on Friday, Sept. 26, against Temple College at 8 p.m. OU then plays twice Saturday with games at 12:15 p.m. against Howard College and 4:45 p.m. against East Central University. The weekend closes with a single contest versus Seminole State on Sunday at 1 p.m.

After nearly a three-week break, OU returns to the field on Friday, Oct. 17 as it hosts Butler Community College at 6 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 23, the Sooners welcome North Texas in a single game at 7 p.m. During the 2014 season, OU defeated the Mean Green, 3-0, on April 23 behind a one-hit shutout from then-sophomore Kelsey Stevens.

The fall season concludes on Saturday, Nov. 1, when Oklahoma travels to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Last season, OU used a six-run first inning to cruise to a 10-2, five-inning win at Bogle Park.

Fresh off a fourth straight trip to the Women's College World Series, Oklahoma returns 13 players from last year's squad, including All-Americans Lauren Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley, as well as Stevens, who tied for the national lead in wins with 38.
