NORMAN, Okla. -- After two rounds, the University of Oklahoma men's golf team sits in ninth place at the Olympia Fields CC/Fighting Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Illinois. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at the par-70, 7,142-yard North Course at the Olympia Fields Country Club.

The Sooners tallied a 16-over-par 296 in Saturday's second round, bringing their total to 595 (+35). The 15-team event features one of the best fields of the fall, with 10 squads ranked in the GCAA Coaches Preseason Top-25 Poll, including the Sooners at No. 11.

Baylor, the only squad to shoot an under-par score on the day, sits atop the leaderboard with a 576 (+16), eight strokes ahead of No. 6 and host Illinois at 24 over par. No. 17 Florida State is in third with a 589 (+29), while No. 1 Oklahoma State holds fourth with a 31-over 591. Colorado, No. 23 Virginia Tech and No. 7 Stanford share fifth place with 33-over-par 593s.

Senior Michael Gellerman leads the Sooners with a 144 (+4), placing him in a tie for seventh place. On Saturday, Gellerman recorded a 3-over 73, a day after shooting a 71 (+1). Gellerman is two strokes off the individual leader, Maverick McNealy of Stanford.

With a 146 (+6), Beau Titsworth is tied for 14th place. The junior pocketed a team-high five birdies in the second round en route to a 1-over-par 71, four strokes better than his total for the first 18 holes.

After shooting a 77 (+7) on Saturday, freshman Grant Hirschman is tied for 44th place with a 12-over-par 152. Junior Max McGreevy shot a 75 (+5) in the second round, and freshman Griffin Pierce recorded an 8-over 78. McGreevy is tied for 49th place with a 153 (+13), while Pierce holds a share of 70th with a 160 (+20).

The final round of the OFCC/Illini Invite is slated for Sunday, with OU's tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT from hole No. 10. The Sooners will be paired with Stanford and Texas A&M. Live stats will be available at GolfStat.com.
