In a rematch of last season's Women College World Series Finals, the seventh-seeded and defending national champion Sooners host No. 10 Tennessee in the Norman Super Regional, May 23-24. Game's one and three of the series will be on ESPN2, while game two will be carried by ESPN. Beth Mowins and Jessica Mendoza will be on the call all weekend.
Since the tournament changed to a Super Regional format and Best-of-3 title series in 2005, this weekend marks the first time that the two championship series teams have met in the postseason in the following season. In fact, the last time the national champion and runner-up met in the following postseason came in 2005 when the 2004 champs, UCLA, beat Cal in the WCWS, 2-1.
SERIES HISTORY
Oklahoma and Tennessee have met five times previously with the Lady Volunteers holding a 3-2 lead, including a 4-2 victory in the only meeting between the teams in Norman on 3/6/09.
But its the most recent two games that will stand out to many as OU and Tennessee faced off in last season Women's College World Series Championship Series. Game one will long be remembered in WCWS lore for OU's 5-3, 12-inning victory. The contest was scoreless through 10 innings before Tennessee's Madison Shipman hit a three-run home run in the top of the 11th. Oklahoma answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame, including two with the Sooners down to their final strike. In the bottom of the 12th, Lauren Chamberlain hit a walkoff, two-run home run to give OU the 1-0 series lead.
In game two, Michelle Gascoigne struck out 12 and allowed just three hits with no walks, while fellow senior Keilani Ricketts drove in all four runs as Oklahoma finished the two-game sweep with a 4-0 victory to earn the program's second national championship.
SUPER REGIONAL HISTORY
Hosting a Super Regional for the third year in a row and fourth time in its history, Oklahoma is 8-8 all-time in Super Regional play with three championships in seven appearances. OU has won six straight Super Regional contests dating to 2011. In the team's current win streak, it has outscored opponents 42-5.
The Sooners are appearing in their fifth straight Super Regional, which is tied with Oregon for the third-longest active streak behind only Alabama (10) and Washington (6). In addition, OU's eight Super Regional appearances are tied for fifth all-time in NCAA history, while the program's eight wins sit ninth.
NO ONE HOTTER THAN OKLAHOMA
Since being swept in a doubleheader at Louisiana-Lafayette on March 15 dropped their record to 18-8, the Sooners have won 30 of their past 32 games. OU's winning percentage of .938 in games played after March 15 (through May 18) is tied for the best in the country.
| Team | W | L | Pct. |
| Oklahoma | 30 | 2 | .938 |
| Louisiana-Lafayette | 30 | 2 | .938 |
| Florida State | 29 | 2 | .935 |
| Oregon | 29 | 4 | .868 |
| DePaul | 28 | 5 | .848 |
WIN STREAK SITS AT SEASON-HIGH 15 GAMES

OU's 15-game win streak is tied with Florida State for the longest current streak by any of the Super Regional teams. The next closest is Washington at only six games.
