NORMAN, Okla.— Rylee Rackley rewrote the hammer throw record books on Friday evening as Oklahoma's track and field teams  opened competition at the 45th annual John Jacobs Invitational.
 
The senior finished third in the event with a personal-best mark of 197-06 (60.21m). The throw makes her the all-time leader at Oklahoma, replacing Mikaela Johansson (196-5) who set the record in 2009. Rackley's mark is the fourth best in the Big 12.
 
Sarah Tolson inished fifth with a 181-03 (55.26m) throw. Julia Reedy competed unattached, finishing second with a 199-10 (60.21m) throw.
 
On the men's side, freshman Charles Nguyen moved into third all-time with a 196-09 (59.96m) throw for second place in the event. Austin Perry (176-08/53.85m) placed fourth in the event.
 
Action continues tomorrow at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex at 11 a.m. with the women's javelin. Competition on the track begins with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 12:15 p.m.
