Fall Ball Continues this Friday

NORMAN, Okla. --After a dominant performance at the Fall Festival three weeks ago, the Oklahoma softball team returns to the field Friday night against Butler C.C. in the fifth of six home games during the 2014 fall slate. First pitch against the Grizzlies is scheduled for 6 p.m.

In its first games of the season, OU went 4-0 and outscored its opponents 42-2. Oklahoma also dominated in hits (49-9), doubles (10-2), home runs (6-1), walks (34-4), stolen bases (15-1) and strikeouts thrown (48-12).

Individually, junior transfer Tori Nirschl had a team-best .700 batting average after the opening weekend after going 7-10 with three doubles and seven runs scored. Providing the power was junior Leslie Miller, who belted three home runs for a team-leading 1.250 slugging percentage.

In the circle, freshman Paige Parker was lights out as she did not allow a hit in 11.0 innings of work. She also struck out 17 batters against just one walk. Junior Kelsey Stevens led the team with 18 strikeouts on the weekend in just 8.1 innings pitched and also walked only one.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens (65+) and youth (18 and under). Children under three years of age are admitted free.
