Ardmore kicks off Sooner Caravan
Another capacity crowd filled the Dornick Hills Country Club banquet room to hear from Sooner coaches and student-athletes following an afternoon of golf on one of Oklahoma's finest courses. Football coach Bob Stoops, women's basketball coach Sherri Coale and assistant men's basketball coach Bennie Seltzer joined women's golfers Erin Goranson and Jenni Nimmo in reviewing last season and looking forward to the upcoming schedules.
Coach Coale made special recognition of Bob Bramlett, who was instrumental in making this year's caravan a success. Bramlett has worked with the Sooner Club office to organize and advertise the event in the Ardmore area.
Master of Ceremonies (and OU Vice President of Student Affairs) Clarke Stroud presented golf awards to the first, second, and third-place teams. Taking third place was the team of Greg Nieto, Bridge Cox, Craig Stanley, Steve Porter and Larry Naifeh. The second-place team was made up of Neil Johnson, Rose Whatley, Lonnie Whatley, Bill Wilbanks and men's golf coach Jim Ragan. The 2003 championship team consisted of Bud Hebert, Ron Cox, Renee Wills and Bennie Seltzer. Winning teams from the golf tournament are pictured below with Coach Stoops and Coach Coale.
