Bud Wilkinson Football Practice Facility Dedicated
Donors to the improvement project for the football practice facility gathered on Thursday, Oct. 17 for the formal dedication ceremony and reception. Head Coach Bob Stoops and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione addressed the group before Castiglione awarded personalized plaques to each donor in attendance commemorating their gift and participation.

After unveiling the large plaque that marks the entrance to the practice fields, both Stoops and Castiglione spoke about the importance of the facility, and how dramatic the improvements have been. Castiglione recalled fields full of holes and trash left over from vehicles parking in the area during home football games, and the idea of transforming this area into what it has become.

Guests for the ceremony were also given tours of the Lester Wilkinson Football Locker Room, along with other team areas inside the Barry Switzer Center. After the team's practice, a group photo was taken with Coach Stoops and the 2002 team captains.

Inaugural Beat Texas Golf Tournament a Success
Seventeen teams full of Sooners converged on Stonebriar Country Club on Oct. 11 for the Sooner Club's inaugural "Beat Texas" golf tournament. The club's Fazio Course played host to the group, which began the round with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Taking first place in the event was the team of Larry Naifeh, John Velie, John Lynd and Kelly Meek. Second place was awarded to Joe Parker, Bud Beeler, Richard Homsey, and Kent Cohenour. The third-place team included Jeff Frazier, Zac Logsdon, Trace Conn, Brett Kozlowski, and Todd Blackburn. Closest to the pin prize went to Jeff Allen, and the long drive winner was Kirk Moser. John Winkler Motors sponsored a chance to win a new Cadillac with a hole-in-one, but no winners were awarded the vehicle.

Stay tuned for Post-Season Travel Plans
The OU Alumni Association and Sooner Club will again be hosting an official Sooner hotel for this year's football post-season. If the Sooners clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship game, hotel and pre-game party information will be available, and bowl travel plans will also be provided once an official announcement is made.
