McClellan Joins Staff
Kellie McClellan is the newest member of the Sooner Club staff, joining the athletic department on Aug. 5. McClellan's primary duties during football season will center around SkySuite operations at Memorial Stadium, as well as special event scheduling inside each of the athletic department's venues.
McClellan will also be involved with other special events throughout the year, including the Sooner Caravan, and will also work closely with booster clubs and their year-round planning.
McClellan previously served on the academic/student life staff at OU, and just completed her master's work at Wichita State University. She is a 1998 graduate of Kansas State University.
Boomer Bash on the Road
The Sooner Club is teaming up with the OU Alumni Association for road-game pre-game parties this year, beginning with the season opener at Tulsa's Skelly Stadium. Other Boomer Bashes will take place at Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
The Tulsa and Oklahoma State parties will begin two hours prior to kickoff, and will feature barbecue dinners. The Tulsa event is $25 for adults and $10 for children (12 and under), while the Oklahoma State event is $20 for adults and also $10 for kids. The pre-game bash at Texas A&M will take place on Friday night, Nov. 8, at the Omni Hotel in Houston from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. For more information on any of the Boomer Bashes, contact the OU Alumni Association at (405) 325-1710 or visit their new and improved Web site at www.ou.edu, and follow the alumni links.
Searching for Names of World War I Victims
As work continues on the renovation and expansion of Memorial Stadium, recognition plans are underway to honor those for whom the stadium is named. OU students and alums killed while serving the United States in World War I are the reason behind the naming of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The athletic department would like to further this honor by recognizing the names of these men and women inside the stadium.
While many names have been compiled to date, we are asking for the help of family members and friends to identify others who may have been missed. Records from the WWI era are somewhat sketchy, so if you are aware of an OU student or alum who perished while serving in the war, please contact Chris Maxon in the Sooner Club office at (405) 325-8000.
