24 Rowers Named to Academic All-Big 12 Team

NORMAN, Okla. -- A conference-high 24 University of Oklahoma rowers were named to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing First Team, the league announced today.
All 24 of OU's honorees were named to the first team, which led the conference. Texas's 25 award winners was the most total, with 18 on the first team. A total of 105 student-athletes were recognized with first or second team honors.
The Sooners also led the conference with five student-athletes with a 4.00 grade point average.
Marilyn Kozlowski, Kim Moldenhauer, Laura Combs, Nikki Furmanek and Emmie Preskitt were five of just twelve rowers that earned that distinction.
Student-athletes named to the first team must have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
