NORMAN, Okla. -- Sophomore Shelby Pendley led the Sooners in home runs, runs batted in, slugging and walks in a three-game sweep of Texas Tech to garner Big 12 Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Pendley batted .636 with three home runs, nine RBI, a .692 on-base percentage and 1.545 slugging percentage against the Red Raiders to earn her second weekly conference honor of the season. She was also recognized by the Big 12 on March 12.
In Friday night's 9-0, six-inning win, Pendley recorded her sixth career multi-home run game and tied a career high with three hits. She hit a two-run home run in the first inning and then crushed a solo home run to center in the sixth.
In a 6-0 win on Saturday, Pendley was 1-of-3 with a run, a base on balls and a stolen base. Her walk came in the fifth and Pendley came around to score later in the inning on a home run by Keilani Ricketts.
Pendley matched her career high in hits with another 3-for-4 day in Sunday's 13-7 win. She also scored twice, drove in six runs, doubled, homered, walked and stole a base. Pendley delivered an RBI single in the first inning, hit a three-run homer in the second and finished her day with a two-run double in the sixth.
Oklahoma has had three different players earn Player of the Week accolades this season with Lauren Chamberlain winning Feb. 12 and March 19 and Jessica Vest April 2. In addition, Ricketts has been honored as Pitcher of the Week three times and Michelle Gascoigne once.
Oklahoma faces Oklahoma State Wednesday, April 17, at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. First pitch is schedule for 7 p.m. The game will be webcast live on SoonerSports.tv.
