NORMAN, Okla. -- Four members of the University of Oklahoma softball team have been named 2012-13 NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Monday.
Senior infielder Javen Henson, junior outfielder Callie Parsons and junior infielder Jessica Vest were joined by pitcher Michelle Gascoigne, who was a senior last year, were recognized for their academic achievements.
It's the second year in a row that the four student-athletes received the honors from the NFCA, which are bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2012-13 academic year.
The four Sooners were joined by Brianna Turang, Georgia Casey, Erica Sampson and Brittany Williams as Academic All-Big 12 honorees in May, while Gascoigne was tabbed an Academic All-American.
In program history, Oklahoma has garnered 94 Academic All-Big 12 honors, 14 Academic All-District honors, eight Academic All-America honors and has had one Academic All-American of the Year.
