NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts and Jessica Shults, along with the rest of the U.S. Softball National Team, open up play in the World Cup of Softball Thursday in Oklahoma City. The American squad faces Puerto Rico at 6 p.m. at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City in a game that will be televised by ESPN2.
Thursday night's game will mark the second consecutive year that Ricketts and Shults have appeared at the World Cup of Softball as members of the U.S. National Team as the pitcher and catcher duo helped the American team to a gold medal win in 2011. The 2012 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Ricketts earned the save in the title game win over Japan while recording wins against Australia and Japan in preliminary action. Shults saw action in two of the six American games of 2011.
The American squad will play at 6 p.m. on three straight days as they return on Friday to face Australia on ESPN before facing North American rival Canada Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPN. Saturday night's game is part of two on the day for the U.S. team as it takes on the Netherlands at 11 a.m. earlier in the day in a game televised by ESPN2.
