No. 4 Oklahoma to Host NCAA Regional

NORMAN, Okla. -- Coming off the program's ninth Big 12 title and ranked No. 4 in the NCAA's final RPI poll, Oklahoma (45-8, 19-5 Big 12) will host an NCAA Regional in Norman beginning on Friday. The four-team, three-day event will feature Oregon State (34-21, 9-14 Pac 12) facing Tulsa (41-12, 19-5 Conference USA) in a first round game at 5 p.m. before Oklahoma (45-8) takes on Lehigh (40-17, 17-2 Patriot) at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.

Friday's winners will square off in Saturday's first of three games at 1 p.m. while Friday's two losers will face off in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. The loser of Saturday's first game will take on the winner of the day's second game in an elimination game. The winner of Saturday's final game will take on the winner of the day's first game on Sunday at 1 p.m. with an if necessary rematch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. A full schedule for all three days is below.

Oklahoma is 2-0 all time against Lehigh with its last game coming in 2005. OU's other match up against Lehigh came in postseason action in 2001. The Sooners are 10-2 all-time against Oregon State and 35-10 all-time versus Tulsa.

The winner of this weekend's regional will advance to the NCAA Super Regional round the following weekend with an ultimate goal of reaching the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma made its sixth trip to the WCWS in 2011 after defeating Arizona in two games in Tucson, Ariz. OU's regional matches up with the regional of No. 13 Arizona that also includes North Dakota State, Notre Dame and Hawaii.

All-session tickets for the 2012 NCAA Softball Norman Regional will be on sale online at www.SoonerSports.com and over the phone beginning Monday, May 14 at 8:00 a.m.

Prices are $40 for reserved all-session tickets, $25 for general admission adult all-session tickets and $20 for general admission youth (2 - 12 year old, OU student & senior citizen 55 years and older) all-session tickets. Each day of the regional is considered one session and a session ticket is good for all games in one day. Children under 2 years of age are admitted free. OU students will have to purchase a youth ticket for this event as it is an NCAA sponsored tournament.

If tickets remain, single session tickets will go on sale the first day of competition at the OU Softball Complex Box Office at least 90 minutes prior to the first scheduled game. Single session tickets are $15 for reserved tickets, $10 for general admission adult tickets and $8 for general admission youth/OU student/senior citizen tickets.
