NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma varsity eight was named the first ever Big 12 Boat of the Month for March the conference announced Thursday. This is the crew's second award for the Spring 2012 Season after it was named Conference USA's Boat of the Week on March 20. The varsity eight remained undefeated from March 9-31 competing in three regattas against both Big 12 and Conference USA competition. This is the first Big 12 rowing award presented by the league.
The Sooners opened March by winning the OU Invitational, beating out Kansas, Kansas State, Tulsa and SMU. During the Longhorn Invitational the top Oklahoma boat defeated San Diego, SMU, Central Florida and No. 19 Texas to finish the weekend with four wins.
