Engel Wins 5,000-Meter Run at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – University of Oklahoma senior Jessica Engel won the women's 5,000-meter run Thursday evening at the 103rd Drake Relays. Engel ran a season-best time of 16 minutes, 15.33 seconds to win by more than five seconds over the next closest competitor.

Redshirt freshman Hilary Krein clocked a collegiate-best 16:59.42 to finish 13th. Krein's time is the eighth best in program history. Engel already owns the second best time in the event at Oklahoma.

The Sooners continue action Friday at the Drake Relays with field events beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT. Oklahoma's men compete at the 118th Penn Relays in Philadelphia beginning with the college men's 4x100-meter preliminaries at 11:40 a.m. CT.
