NORMAN, Okla. - The 28th-ranked University of Oklahoma men's golf team concluded the Aggie Invitational with a final-round 371 (+11) Sunday at the par-72 Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas, to finish in fourth place among 10 teams.

The Sooners entered the day in third place, but were jumped by No. 1-ranked Texas and fell one spot. No. 13 Oregon won the tournament by 13 strokes over Texas and No. 15 Texas A&M.

Oklahoma finished 12 strokes behind the Longhorns and Aggies, but bested No. 30 Oklahoma State (fifth place), No. 29 Baylor (seventh place) and No. 43 Texas Tech (ninth place) at the sixth-annual event.

"Charlie Saxon had a nice week," OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. "I was glad to see production out of the back of the lineup."

After a strong showing in the first two rounds, OU freshman Charlie Saxon carded a final-round 77 (+5) to finish in a tie for seventh place with a three-round 221 (+5). The freshman carded two double bogeys, three bogeys and two birdies in the final round. His seventh-place showing was his best as a Sooner.

Abraham Ancer turned in one of the better final rounds of the event, carding a 72 (E). The OU junior opened the day with a birdie on No. 1, but added two bogeys and a double bogey to stand at 3 over through 11 holes. Ancer played the final seven holes at 3 under par thanks to three straight birdies on holes 13 through 15. With a three-round 226 (+10) and a share of 15th place, Ancer earned his eighth top-20 finish this season.

Will Kropp was in good shape entering the final two holes with three birdies and two bogeys on his scorecard, but the junior recorded a triple bogey on the par-4 17th hole. Kropp bounced back with a birdie on No. 18 to finish at 1 over on the day, his best round of the weekend. Kropp's three-round 230 (+14) placed him in a tie for 29th.

Not much went right for sophomore Michael Schoolcraft in the first two rounds. The sophomore entered Sunday's final round at 14 over and in a tie for 41st place, but rebounded with an even-par 72 in the final round. Schoolcraft registered three birdies and climbed 12 spots to join Kropp in a tie for 29th place.

Riley Pumphrey entered the day with a share of 15th place, but fell 20 spots after recording a final-round 79 (+7). The senior finished the event with a three-round 231 (+15) and in a tie for 35th place.

Freshman Michael Gellerman finished the 54-hole tournament in a tie for 44th place with a three-round 235 (+19) after shooting a final-round 77 (+5).

Freshman Nicholas Smits, competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 62nd place.

"Overall, it was a productive week for us leading into the Big 12s," Hybl said. "Now it is time to prepare for Whispering Pines."

The event concluded OU's regular season. The Sooners will be back in action Friday-Sunday (April 27-29) at the Big 12 Championship in Trinity, Texas. Four rounds will be played over the three days at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
