Borman Wins Discus Title at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - University of Oklahoma senior Brittany Borman won the A section of the women's discus throw on Friday afternoon at the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Borman took the lead on her third attempt, throwing a season's best 181 feet, six inches. The mark held up as two other competitors registered their best throws on their final attempts. Lauren Guerreri finished 11th with a throw of 150-3.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Marcus Anderson, Ethan Baker, Evan Pierson and Eric Cray qualified for Saturday's Clyde Littlefield 4x100-meter relay final with the final qualifying spot. The Sooners finished in 40.39 seconds, four hundredths of a second better than the 10th-place team.
Tre Lathan just missed advancing to Saturday's final in the men's 110-meter hurdles. He ran 14.16 seconds, just off his season best to finish 12th and five hundredths of a second off the ninth-place time. Nathaniel Winfrey ran 14.64 to take third in his heat.
Alex Acker took fourth in section B of the women's pole vault, clearing 13-1.50. Kristen Rice matched her season best with a leap of 5-7 to finish seventh in section B of the women's high jump.
Conrad Aaron opened his outdoor season with a seventh-place finish in section B of the men's shot put (51-2.25).
Sherine Wells (11.86) and Ti'Anca Mock (11.92) failed to advance in the women's 100-meter dash final, while Marcus Anderson (10.65) and Evan Pierson (10.74) did not advance on the men's side.
The final day of action begins at 12:35 p.m. CT with the men's 4x200-meter relay, followed by the women's distance medley relay at 1:10 p.m. and the Clyde Littlefield men's 4x100-meter relay at 2:05 p.m. OU competes in the final event of the meet, the Cleburne Price, Jr. 4x400-meter invitational relay scheduled for the 5:10 p.m. CT time block.
Field events begin at 1:30 p.m. CT with section A of the men's discus throw. Section A of the women's shot put and men's and women's long jump are also on tap for OU on Saturday. Live results and a live blog from the meet are available at SoonerSports.com.
