Thirteen Sooners Given Conference USA Academic Medal

NORMAN, Okla. - Conference USA awarded 13 Oklahoma Rowers with an Academic Medal for the 2011-12 academic year on Wednesday. The conference had a total of 538 students earn this honor. The Sooners are tied for second with Tennessee among the Conference USA rowing schools with 13 selections, while Kansas leads the conference with 16 selections.

Athletes eligible for the Commissioner's Honor Roll achieved a cumulative GPA of a 3.75 or better.

Last season the Sooners had nine women listed as Academic Medal winners from Conference USA.

Elizabeth Biggs, Nicole Furmanek, Kelsey O'Grady and Brooke Sheppard are receiving this award for the second consecutive year.

Conference USA rowing schools include Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, Tennessee, Alabama, Central Florida, Tulsa and SMU.
