NORMAN, Okla. — No. 7 Oklahoma swept the Big 12 weekly softball honors on Tuesday as the conference announced Georgia Casey as the Big 12 Player of the Week and Keilani Ricketts as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week. The honors come after the duo helped the Oklahoma team extend its win streak to 15 games by going 4-0 at last weekend's Judi Garman Classic.
Tuesday's honors marked the sixth consecutive season that OU has swept the weekly awards at least once in a season.
The Big 12 Player of the Week honor remained in Norman for the second straight week as Casey became the second Oklahoma freshman in a row to win the honor following Lauren Chamberlain's win last week. For Ricketts, the win was the second of the year for the junior after being named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on March 6. Ricketts has now won the honor seven times in her career.
Over the weekend, Casey helped lead a balanced effort for Oklahoma at the plate with a batting average of .429 while driving in a team-leading seven runs. The Australian had two home runs and finished the weekend with six hits, 13 total bases and a slugging percentage of .929. She also had 10 putouts and five assists at second base.
Ricketts did not give up a single run while going 3-0 in two starts and on relief appearance in Fullerton, Calif. The junior struck out 24 batters in just 14 innings of work while allowing just one walk and six hits. Along with an ERA of 0.00, Ricketts held opposing batters to an average of just .122.
