Conference USA Boat of the Week"This is a really great honor and I'm incredibly proud of this lineup," OU Head Coach Leeanne Crain said. "Every member of this crew has been working hard all year and they're just beginning to reap the rewards of that hard work. Texas has a great program and always fields very fast boats so to get in front of them in the early part of the season is extremely rewarding. The other teams we've faced are equally well coached so I'm sure we'll see all of them picking up speed throughout the season."
The Sooners kicked its season off with the OU Invitational in Oklahoma City where the varsity eight defeated Kansas State, Kansas, Tulsa before sweeping SMU in the finals. The following weekend OU continued its streak by beating the University of San Diego, Central Florida and Texas along with SMU for the second weekend. The boat posted its second-fasted time against No. 19 Texas, finishing in a time of 6:59.5 to the Longhorns' time of 7:06.7.
