Four Sooners Named NFCA Scholar Athletes

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma softball team had four of its student-athletes honored Thursday for their work inside the classroom.
Senior pitcher Michelle Gascoigne, junior infielder Javen Henson, sophomore outfielder Callie Parsons and sophomore infielder Jessica Vest were all named All-America Scholar Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The award is bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2011-12 academic year.
In May, Gascoigne and Henson were also named first-team Academic All-Big 12.
Under head coach Patty Gasso, the Sooners have been honored with 81 Academic All-Conference selections and six Academic All-Americans.
