NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's cross country team moved up two spots to No. 4 in the latest national rankings provided Tuesday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA). The No. 4 ranking is the highest ever by the men's team. The men remain at No. 2 in the Midwest Region.
The men's last competition was at the Hurricane Cross Country Festival on Sept. 3 in Tulsa, Okla., which the Sooners placed second overall. Oklahoma placed three runners in the top five, led by Taylor Wardall who finished in third, Frezer Legesse who finished fourth and Danny Nicolls who finished fifth.
Ryan Poland, Malcolm Wankel and Ross Larimer placed 14th, 16th and 19th respectively. The Oklahoma men have one more weekend off before heading to Bethlehem, Pa., for the Lehigh Brooks Paul Short Run on Sept. 30.
