Rowing Announces 2011-2012 Novice Team

NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma assistant rowing coach Emma Gresson announced the Sooners' 2011-12 novice rowing roster Sunday afternoon. The novice team has 47 new members.
"I was thrilled with the increase in numbers at both the informational meeting and during the course of tryouts," Gresson said. "The extra push with on-campus recruiting was extremely beneficial. I'm really excited about the size and athleticism of the young women that are being announced to the team.
"This year we got to use the resources at The Chesapeake Boathouse, which has been invaluable. The women are much further ahead in learning the art of rowing already."
The Oklahoma rowing program opens its season on Oct. 1 at the Head of the Oklahoma held on the Oklahoma River.
