Baseball Summer League Update No. 10

NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.

The tenth installment, along with links to each of the players' statistics, is listed below:

SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUES
In the Cape Cod League, Ryan Gibson and Drew Harrison have helped the Hyannis Harbor Hawks to a 29-15 record to take first in the Western Division. The Harbor Hawks went into the Cape Cod League playoffs with high hopes, but were sent out in their third game, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Falmouth Commodores. Drew Harrison finished the season with one run, three hits and one RBI in six games. Ryan Gibson finished the regular season with a 3-0 record, 1.27 ERA in 21.1 inning and 26 strikeouts. In the Harbor Hawks playoff loss, Gibson tossed 4.1 inning.

Also in the Cape Cod League, Max White and the Falmouth Commodores (23-28) finished in fourth place in the Western Division of the Cape Cod League. The Commodores hit their stride in the playoffs, advancing to the Cape Cod League final before losing to the Harwich Mariners. White appeared in six of the teams seven playoff games with a .273 batting average, three runs, six hits and four RBIs. White finished the season with 18 runs, 27 hits, four home runs and 22 RBIs.

Finally, Jordan John and Jack Mayfield and the Brewster Whitecaps (21-22) finished third the East Division and went 1-2 in the playoffs. John pitched in five games, recording three starts and a record of 1-1 on the season. John had 14 strikeouts and just three walks in 12.2 innings pitched. Mayfield finished with a .225 batting average in 28 games.

OKLAHOMA IN THE MINORS
Twelve games after his Class A Advanced debut on Aug. 2, Aaron Baker was promoted to the Baltimore Orioles AA affiliate, the Bowie Baysox. During his breif time with the Frederick Keys, Baker faced recored a .386 batting average, 17 hits, eight runs, 9 RBIs and two home runs. Since his promotion, Baker has appeared in two games for the Baysox, recording a hit and one RBI in six at-bats.

Also in Class AA, Will Savage is seeing plenty of action and pitching well for the Chattanooga Lookouts. In his last 10 games, Savage is 5-2 with a 3.78 ERA in 52.1 inning pitched. Savage is 12-4 on the season with 78 strikeouts and a 3.56 ERA in 121.1 innings pitched.

OKLAHOMA IN THE MAJORS
Chris Jakubaukskas continues to provde solid relief for the Baltimore Orioles. In his last 10 games, Jakubauskas has pitched 18.1 innings with a 2.45 ERA. The right hander is 2-2 on the season with 22 appearances and six starts.

Garrett Richards made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Aug. 10 in Yankee Stadium and on national television (ESPN). Richards battled through five tough innings, giving up six hits, six runs, two walks with two strikeouts. Richards gets his second start on the bump tonight at home against the Texas Rangers. The game gets underway at 9 p.m. CT and will air on Fox Sports Southwest (Cox Ch. 37 in OKC).
