Baseball Summer League Update No. 7

NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.

The seventh installment, along with links to each of the players' statistics, is listed below:

SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUES

In the Cape Cod League, Ryan Gibson and Drew Harrison have helped the Hyannis Harbor Hawks to a 24-12 record atop the standings in the West Division. The Harbor Hawks are currently riding a five-game winning streak. Gibson has been solid in relief, making eight appearances with a 1.65 ERA in 16.1 innings of action.

Also in the Cape Cod League, Jordan John and Jack Mayfield have been steady contributors for the Brewster Whitecaps (18-5), which have made their way atop the East Division. John has pitched in five games, recording three starts and a record of 1-1 on the season. John has 14 strikeouts and just three walks in 12.2 innings pitched. Mayfield is hitting .225 in 28 games.

Finally, Max White and the Falmouth Commodores are in fourth place in the West Division of the Cape Cod League. White is currently on a five-game hitting streak, in which he has recorded eight hits, five RBIs and a home run. After a slow start, his batting average has improved to .258 in 26 games played.

OKLAHOMA IN THE MINORS
Jackson Williams holds a .353 batting average for the Fresno Grizzlies, the San Francisco Giant's AAA affiliate, in their last 10 games. Williams has recorded at least one hit in the last three games.

In Class AA, Joseph Dunigan is continuing his success as a batter for the Seattle Mariners affiliate, the Jackson Generals. In his last 10 games, the lefty has a .306 batting average with 11 hits, two homeruns and 14 RBIs.

In Class A Advanced, J.T. Wise is on a six-game hitting streak with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. In his last ten games, Wise has recorded three homeruns and 11 RBIs.

In Class A Short Season with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, Garrett Buechele is also on a six-game hitting streak. On July 21, Buechele was four-for-four at the plate with two runs and an RBI.

OKLAHOMA IN THE MAJORS
Daniel McCutchen has been solid in relief for the Pittsburgh Pirates, aiding them to first in the Central Division of the National League. McCutchen has pitched 8.2 innings in his last 10 appearances with a 2.08 ERA. He has not allowed an earned run in his last eight trips to the mound and just three hits during that span.

In his last 10 games with the San Diego Padres, Jason Bartlett has a batting average of .308 with 13 hits, nine runs and two RBIs.
