NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.
The fourth installment, along with links to each of the players' statistics, are listed below
SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUES
In the Cape Cod League, Ryan Gibson and Drew Harrison have helped the Hyannis Harbor Hawks to a 14-6 record atop the standings in the East Division. Gibson has been solid in relief, providing three appearances without an earned run allowed. Gibson is 2-0 on the season with a 0.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched. On June 29, his last outing, he lasted a season-high 5 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts to earn the victory over the Cotuit Kettleers.
Also in the Cape, Jordan John and Jack Mayfield have been steady contributors for the Brewster Whitecaps, which are one game back of second place in the West Division. John has pitched in five games with three starts and is 1-1 on the season. John has 14 strikeouts and just three walks in 12 2/3 innings pitched. Mayfield is hitting .245 in his 17 games played, including a four-game hitting streak that was snapped on July 4. Mayfield collected five hits and two RBI during the streak.
Finally, Max White and the Falmouth Commodores
are still in contention in the East Division in the Cape Cod League. White has played well late with hits in three of his last four games. He is hitting just .221 in his 12 games played, but in his last four games, he has four hits and five RBI. White hit a solo homer on July 4 versus Cotuit to put him in second place in the Cape with two roundtrippers.
OKLAHOMA IN THE MINORS
J.T. Wise, the 2009 Johnny Bench Award winner, is hitting .277 with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Class A - Los Angeles Dodgers). Wise has 11 homers and 44 RBI in 65 games played, including 10 hits, four homers and eight RBI in the last 10 contests.
Several members of the 2010 College World Series team are also enjoying successful seasons in Class A with their respective clubs. Danny Black is hitting .277 with four homers and 38 RBI while playing 70 games at shortstop for the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Florida Marlins). Also in Greensboro, Zach Neal is 5-5 in his 15 starts where he's logged 84 1/3 innings. Also on the mound, Jason Chowning is 2-2 with a 1.73 ERA in his 22 relief appearances with the Lexington Legends (Houston Astros).
Garrett Buechele, after hitting .308 with two homers and five RBI in the Arizona League, has moved up with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. He made his debut with the Class A Short-Season affiliate of the San Francisco Giants on July 4 but did not collect a hit in four at-bats.
OKLAHOMA IN THE MAJORS
Since earning his first win of 2011 as a starter on June 19 against the Washington Nationals, Chris Jakubauskas has made three more starts with an 0-2 mark. Jakubauskas is 2-2 on the season in 11 appearances, including six starts.
Greg Dobbs is hitting .300 with 21 RBI in 70 games played for the Florida Marlins. Dobbs has played the most games at third base for the Marlins this season.
