OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The USA Softball Women's National Team that counts Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts and Jessica Shults as members opened up with a 7-2 win over the Czech Republic Thursday night at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. Shults entered the game for the American squad in bottom of the sixth, taking her usual position behind the plate.
Shults did not record an at bat while Ricketts took the night off as the U.S. went with Whitney Canion and Chelsea Thomas in the circle. The U.S. jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings before the Czech Republic grabbed two runs in the top of the fourth. The U.S. answered in the bottom of the fourth with a Stacy May-Johnson solo home run. The U.S. closed out the scoring with its seventh and final run in the bottom of the sixth.
Shults, Ricketts and the rest of the U.S. team return to action Friday night at 7 p.m. when it faces Australia at Hall of Fame Stadium.
