NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts and Jessica Shults along with the rest of the USA Softball Women's National Team were unable to overcome Japan Sunday as the Americans fell 7-0 in the championship game of the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship in Surrey, B.C. The U.S. opened the day with a 4-3 loss to the Japanese before rebounding with a 6-1 win over Australia to advance to the championship game.

While Shults did not see any at bats on the day, recording action in the field in the first match up vs. Japan, Ricketts started in the circle in the championship game. The San Jose, Calif., native faced 10 batters in 1.1 innings pitched, giving up five hits and three earned runs while striking out one. The U.S. was unable to string anything together at the plate, recording just three hits on the day.

Ricketts, Shults and the rest of the US team now head to Oklahoma City for the World Cup of Softball VI. The event runs July 21-25 at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. Tickets for the event can be purchased at SoftballOutlet.com or by calling 1-800-654-8337.
