EUGENE, Ore. — Oklahoma athletes closed out 2011 action with six top-10 finishes at the USA Track and Field Championships Sunday at Historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Mookie Salaam led the way with a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.43 in the event's finals.
Salaam advanced to the finals with a time of 20.48 in the third heat of the event's semifinals. The women's 200 saw OU alum Leslie Cole finish 10th in the event with a time of 22.97, just off her season best of 22.91.
The NCAA runner-up in the women's long jump, Ti'Anca Mock took 10th in the event on Sunday with a jump of 21-4.25 (6.51). Mock's best effort came on her third attempt as she was just over an inch away from qualifying for the finals of the event.
OU alum Ronnie Ash took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a final time of 13.27. Ash advanced to the finals of the event after clocking 13.24 in the semifinals less than two hours prior to the finals.
The 2011 NCAA champion in the javelin, Brittany Borman finished seventh in the event with a top throw of 170-7 (52.00). The junior was the top collegiate finisher in the event with her best throw coming on her sixth and final attempt.
Former Sooner Kevin Bookout finished 10th in the shot put with a season-best throw of 64-6.50 (19.67).
Eric Bailey closed out his collegiate career with a 12th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Bailey bowed out in Saturday's semifinals with a time of 51.53.
