NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma softball standouts Keilani Ricketts (San Jose, Calif.) and Jessica Shults (Valencia, Calif.) were named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America teams the organization announced today. Ricketts earned first team honors after being named to the second team last year. Shults was named to the second team for a second consecutive year. The pair were also named NFCA All-Central region first team.

Ricketts, an at-large selection on the first team, helped pitch the Sooners to the WCWS by tallying 29 wins and striking out 11.4 batters per game, the third highest total in the nation. She became the Oklahoma single season leader in strikeouts on April 30, breaking a 15-year old record.  Jill Most (356) set the previous single season record in 1996.

Ricketts (789) has also moved past Kami Keiter (733) on the Oklahoma career strikeouts list. The sophomore needs just 16 strikeouts to tie Jill Most for the career record (805). Ricketts is tied for fifth in winning percentage (.726), seventh in complete games (60); eighth in innings pitched (532.0), games started (78), victories (61) and shutouts (23); and ninth in appearances (96).

Shults was selected to this year's second team, due in large part to her stellar offensive statistics. She is currently ranked in the top 20 in the nation in three separate categories. She had the 18th most RBIs per game at 1.09, the 10th most total home runs at 19 and the eighth most home runs per game at 0.36.

Shults has missed the 2011 postseason thus far with an illness and is listed as day-to-day.  Shults' 19 home runs are a single-season best for the sophomore. The OU single season record is 20 (Lisa Carey, 2000 and Lynette Velazquez, 1999).

Oklahoma opens play at the 2011 Women's College World Series on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. CT against top-seeded Arizona State.
