NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma rower Rebecca Staff has been invited to attend Canada's U23 Selection Camp in London, Ontario, which begins June 1.
"This is a great opportunity for Rebecca," Head Coach Leeanne Crain said. "She's an incredible athlete and leader on our team, and it's wonderful that she's being recognized by the Canadian national team coaches as having the potential to compete at the international level."
Staff, a sophomore, is one of 21 women invited to the camp and represents one of nine U.S. colleges to make the list. Other U.S. colleges include Harvard, Louisville, Michigan State, Princeton, Stanford, Texas, Virginia and Washington State.
If Staff is chosen for RCA's 2011 U23 World Rowing Championship Team, she will compete in the U23 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands, July 21-24.
"She's achieved great success in just two years at OU and it's quite an honor to be one of a handful invited to train with the Canadian U23 team," Crain said. "I'm extremely proud of her."
