Sooners Invited to Windermere Cup Regatta

Norman, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's rowing team announced changes to the spring schedule Tuesday, moving the date of the ACC/ Big East Challenge and adding the historic Windermere Cup Regatta.
"It's a real honor to be invited to compete in the Windermere Cup," Head Coach Leeanne Crain said. "The University of Washington is one of the oldest, most storied programs in the sport of rowing. The competition will be fierce. Washington and Cambridge are incredible programs steeped in rich tradition. I'm sure it will prove to be a memorable experience for our athletes."
The Sooners head to Seattle, Wash., May 7th for the 25th anniversary of the Windermere Cup, hosted by the University of Washington. The Sooners race Washington and Cambridge in a 2,000-meter sprint through the Montlake Cut into Lake Union.
The event marks the beginning of the boating season in Seattle, drawing crowds of thousands. The invitational will also showcase Stanford and Cambridge against the Washington men's rowing team.
The Sooners will also be attending the ACC/Big East challenge, now set for May 15 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Oklahoma is set to face Virginia, Clemson, Notre Dame, Louisville, UCF and Duke.
