AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Oklahoma rowing team concluded the Longhorn Invitational Sunday morning, taking three wins over UCF. The Sooners claimed 12 wins overall from the weekend, five in the varsity eight events, four in the varsity fours, and three in the novice eights.

"It was nice to see the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four all win by substantial margins today,” Head Coach Leeanne Crain said. “With this weekend's results, I think we are in a position to get some votes in the next top-20 poll. Of course that's at the discretion of the pollsters, but none-the-less I think we put ourselves in a position to be considered."

Both varsity eight boats took wins over UCF, with the first varsity eight finishing with a time of 7 minutes, 19.800 seconds to UCF's 7:31.200. The second varsity eight overtook the Knights 7:25.900 to 7:35.400.

The varsity four boats went one and one with UCF, the first varsity four boat finishing on top 8:20.700 to 8:29.300. The second varsity four fell to the Knights 8:24.200 to 8:39.700.

The sole novice eight to compete Sunday morning finished behind UCF by under a five second margin, 8:04.800 to 8:08.500.

"We've gotten a lot of racing in over the past two weekends,” Crain said. “It will be great to have a couple weeks off before the Crew Classic to get back to our regular training program. We definitely need to keep improving as we move through the season, our next test will be against a very strong PAC-10 contingent in San Diego."

The Sooners are off next weekend before traveling to California for the San Diego Crew Classic April 2-3.
