Softball Season Promotions Announced

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma marketing department has announced the 2011 promotions schedule for softball. Among the events include senior Sundays, an Earth day event, a weather-themed promotion, pictures with celebrity cardboard cutouts, the annual Pack the Park Pink day and the Year of the Fan celebration.

OU opens the 2011 home slate on Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. against St. Gregory's. On Opening Night, the first 100 fans receive free hot chocolate and among the giveaways include tickets to The Preview featuring Bedlam on March 5 in Oklahoma City. Fifty-cent hot dogs and Cokes are available as long as supplies last.

Fifty-cent hot dogs and Cokes return for three additional dates – March 9 vs. Tulsa, March 29 vs. Central Arkansas and May 5. Fans are also invited to celebrate the return of daylight savings with the team on March 12 against Indiana. Twenty-five lucky fans will win an OU wall clock. Military appreciation day is scheduled for March 29 and Kids' Day on April 9 as kids take over Marita Hynes Field.

Seniors Dani Dobbs (March 13), Chana'e Jones (March 27) and Haley Nix (April 10) will each be honored on a special Senior Sunday with limited edition collectible posters of each available. The entire class will be honored on May 8.

Fans are asked to help Pack the Park Pink on March 26 against Nebraska. OU's Go Green Earth Day event is set for April 22 and the following Sunday, April 23, the Stormin' Norman weather awareness day.

The home schedule closes out with Sit with the Stars on May 5. Fans have the opportunity to have their picture taken with several celebrity cardboard cutouts. Softball celebrates the Year of the Fan on May 7 with 1,000 limited edition pins up for grabs.

Posters, schedule cards and magnets are available at all home games as long as supplies last.

Season Tickets
Season tickets are on sale now through the University of Oklahoma Athletics Ticket Office. Fans can order reserved and general admission season tickets online at SoonerSports.com or by calling (405) 325-2424 or (800) 456-GOOU. General admission single game tickets for the home opener against St. Gregory's are available now. Single-game tickets for all other games go on sale March 1 at 8:00 a.m.

To celebrate the Year of the Fan, season ticket holders receive an exclusive commemorative wooden mini-bat and their Year of the Fan Softball pin, which will be distributed to single-game and group ticket fans at a later date. These gifts will be available for pick-up at the home opener on Wednesday, February 16 and again on March 4 and March 6.
