Two early enrollees from high school are already attending classes at Oklahoma and a third is expected later this week as new Sooner football players have their first official brush with the campus and football program. The spring semester began Tuesday.

The two who are already on campus are Kendal Thompson, a quarterback from Southmoore High School in Moore, Okla., and Brandon Williams, a running back from Brookshire Royal High School in Brookshire, Texas. Later this week, OU officials expect Marquis Anderson, a defensive tackle from Steele High School in Cibolo, Texas, to begin classes.

SPRING GAME SET FOR APRIL 16
Oklahoma has set April 16 as the date for its annual spring football game. The kickoff time and ticket information will be released at a later date. The Sooners are tentatively scheduled to begin their spring drills on Tuesday, March 8.

When spring practice convenes, Bob Stoops and his staff will welcome back 29 position players who drew at least one start last season. Fifteen of those are on offense, including consensus All-American Ryan Broyles, the school's all-time leading receiver.

The 14 defensive returnees are led by linebacker Travis Lewis, who has led OU in tackles in each of the last three seasons, and cornerback Jamell Fleming, who ranked No. 2 nationally last season in passes defended. Another five special teams starters are back in punter Tress Way, kickers Patrick O'Hara and Jimmy Stevens and long snappers James Winchester and Austin Woods.

KITTLE ADDED TO STAFF
Bruce Kittle, who spent last season as Oklahoma's On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator, has been added to the coach staff as the tight ends and tackles coach. James Patton will continue as the coach of OU's interior linemen, while running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Cale Gundy will now also coach the fullbacks. Oklahoma came in at No. 6 in the final AP and USA Today polls released today. National champion Auburn finished No. 1 in both polls, followed by TCU, Oregon, Stanford, Ohio State and OU. The Sooners captured its seventh Big 12 Championship in the last 11 years in 2010, won the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl over Big East Champion UConn and finished the season with a 12-2 overall record.

BROYLES NCAA STAT CHAMPION
Oklahoma's program has been so balanced through the years that NCAA statistical champions have been somewhat of a rarity. Billy Sims led the nation in points in 1979 and Sam Bradford was tops in passing efficiency in 2008 to account for just two statistical champs over a 31-year span. When the NCAA released its final season statistics for 2010, Ryan Broyles added his name to the list.
