Wort Named a Freshman All-American

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma linebacker Tom Wort has been named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America.
 
The redshirt freshman finished his first season with 66 total tackles, a figure that ranked No. 6 on the team and tops among the team's freshmen.
 
Wort also had 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and five quarterback hurries.
 
The New Braunfels, Texas, product, who originally hails from England, played in 12 games and started nine, all at middle linebacker.
 
Wort's top tackle game came against Texas when he had 10. He also registered a sack in that contest.
 
Wort also played well in the recent Fiesta Bowl victory when he made five unassisted tackles in the 48-20 win over Connecticut.
