10 Sooners Receive Preseason Coaches All-SEC Recognition

NORMAN — Ten University of Oklahoma football players were named to a total of 13 spots on the 2026 Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team, led by first-team honorees Tate Sandell and Ben Anderson, the conference office announced Wednesday. Selections were made by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Sandell, a fifth-year player, was listed on the first team at placekicker and kickoff specialist. Fifth-year senior wide receiver Isaiah Sategna III was a second-team selection as a wide receiver, all-purpose player and return specialist. Fifth-year senior linebacker Kip Lewis, fifth-year senior punter Grayson Miller, senior defensive back Peyton Bowen, senior defensive lineman Taylor Wein, junior defensive back Eli Bowen, junior defensive lineman David Stone and sophomore offensive lineman Michael Fasusi were all named to the second team.

All 10 players were also named on the Preseason Media All-SEC Teams, which were announced following SEC Media Days in July. Sandell and Anderson were also first-team selections by the media, while the other eight players were named to the media's second team. Sategna added recognition as an all-purpose player by the coaches.

Sandell won the Lou Groza Award and was named a first-team All-American in 2025. He set or tied eight career or single-season school, conference, FBS or stadium records, including the OU and single-season SEC records for most consecutive made field goals (24). His eight makes of 50-plus yards and 16 conversions of 40-plus yards also set school records. He was an All-SEC First Team selection by both the coaches and media last season.

Anderson was a second-team All-SEC selection as a senior in 2025 after earning third-team honors in 2024. Also a two-time semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award for the nation's best long snapper, he has handled all the team's long snapping duties for the last three years.

Sategna was a first-team All-SEC pick by the media and a second-team selection by the coaches at both wide receiver and return specialist in 2025. He led OU and ranked second in the league in receptions (68) and third in receiving yards (965) and receiving touchdowns (eight) last season.

Lewis is a two-year starter at linebacker (also made five starts in 2023) who has compiled 209 total tackles, including 18.5 for loss and 5.0 sacks, two interceptions and five pass breakups in his 44 career games. He led the team with 76 tackles and notched 10.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks and four pass breakups last season.

Miller was an All-SEC First Team selection last year by both the coaches and media. He averaged 44.4 yards on his 59 punts with a long of 66 yards. His 24 punts of at least 50 yards set a single-season program record.

Peyton Bowen, a 2025 All-SEC Second Team selection by the league's coaches, started all 13 games at safety last season and totaled 47 tackles, two interceptions and a team-high seven pass breakups. In his 39 career games, he has compiled 117 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, two interceptions and 12 pass breakups.

Wein enjoyed a breakout 2025 season in which he started eight of his 13 games and registered 39 tackles, including team highs of 15.0 for loss and 7.0 sacks, six QB hurries an interception and a forced fumble. He earned second-team All-SEC honors by the coaches last season.

Eli Bowen earned third-team All-SEC honors from the league's coaches in 2025. He has started 17 of his 20 contests over his first two seasons and totaled 54 tackles, three interceptions and eight pass breakups. He notched 24 tackles, two interceptions (including one returned 87 yards for a touchdown at Alabama) and four pass breakups in 2025.

Stone played in all 13 games and made two starts last season and registered 42 tackles, the most on the team among defensive linemen. He also tallied 8.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and six QB hurries. In his 26 career games, he has totaled 48 tackles, including 10.0 for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Fasusi started 10 of his 11 games at left tackle as a true freshman last season, including starts in each of the last nine contests. He was named a true freshman All-American by On3.

OU opens the 2026 campaign on Friday, Sept. 4 against UTEP at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+. The Sooners play their SEC opener on Sept. 26 at Georgia.
