NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma softball team announced its 2011 television schedule Tuesday afternoon. Three of the 12 broadcasts will air on regional or national networks while the other nine broadcasts air locally in the Oklahoma City/Tulsa areas.
The local broadcasts will air via the Sooner Sports Network on Cox Channel 3 in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Local sports personality Toby Rowland from KWTV News 9 (Oklahoma City) will call the play-by-play along with color analyst Kenny Mossman, Oklahoma Associate Athletics Director for Communications.
"We are looking forward to showcasing our program through these television opportunities," said OU Head Softball Coach Patty Gasso. "It will be competitive and exciting softball to watch, and we are thrilled to represent our program and university at the highest level."
The first game can be seen on Wednesday, March 9 as Oklahoma host Tulsa. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. CT. Conference series against Nebraska (March 26-27), Baylor (April 9-10) and Texas A&M (April 22-23) are also part of the local selection.
OU's April 16 game at Missouri will air on Fox Sports Southwest at 3:30 p.m. CT, while the Sunday finale will be shown on ESPN at 3 p.m. CT. OU's series opener with Texas will be on ESPN on April 30 at 7 p.m. CT.
