NORMAN, Okla. -- After the most successful season in Oklahoma cross country history, the team continued to receive recognition as it received the All-Academic Team honor Thursday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The honor comes just three days after the team led the nation with four athletes on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
The team was one of 152 institutions to receive the honor as the Big 12 led all conferences with 10 members earning All-Academic honors and was followed by the Big East which had nine listed.
The Sooners captured their first NCAA Midwest Regional before finishing a program-best fifth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
