Ricketts Earns Second Win at Pan Ams

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts earned her second win in the circle for the USA Softball Women's National Team at the Pan American Games as the American squad defeated Canada 12-5 in five innings. Ricketts entered the game from the bullpen in the first inning, taking over for Whitney Canion with the bases loaded and the U.S. down 1-0.
The Canadian squad managed to post a 5-0 lead after Ricketts walked the first batter, hit the second and gave up a double to the third. Following the early outburst from Canada, the lefty from San Jose, Calif., quieted the Canadian bats, allowing just five hits through the following four innings while striking out four.
Ricketts earned a walk in her lone appearance at the plate. Thursday's win gave Ricketts wins over both of her countries' neighbors after defeating Mexico on Wednesday.
The U.S. will take the field again on Friday at 4 p.m. versus Argentina. The playoffs begin on Saturday with a 4 p.m. game of No. 1 USA versus No. 2 who is yet to be determined.
