NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma won its second contest of the fall softball season Wednesday night as the squad defeated Western Oklahoma State 20-0 in 10 innings. The Sooners collected 20 hits as they held the Pioneers to just two hits with a number of pitchers getting work in the circle with ace Keilani Ricketts preparing for the Pan American Games with the USA Softball Women's National Team.
The Sooners jumped out to a quick lead with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and were held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when they posted five runs to the scoreboard. OU added a single run in the eighth inning before collecting two more runs in the bottom of the ninth. Playing out the bottom of the 10th with the lead, OU tacked on five finals runs for the final run tally of 20.
The Sooners return to fall action next Friday at 7 p.m. as they host Newman University at Marita Hynes Field. General admission for the contest is $6 with students K-12 $5 and senior citizens $4. Children under four will be admitted free of charge.
