Cross Country Finishes Fifth in Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's cross country team finished fifth out of 14 teams at the Cowboy Jamboree Saturday.

Women's Results

The top finisher for Oklahoma for the second meet this season was junior Molly Ferguson who finished 14th overall with a time of 22 minutes and 22.83 seconds. Ferguson set a career best at the Jamboree, surpassing her previous fastest time on a 6,000-meter course of 22:46.90 at the Chile Pepper Invitational in 2009.
 
Making their Sooner debuts were junior Annie Martin, who finished in 16th with a time of 22.25.53, and freshman Hilary Krein who finished 32nd, crossing the finish line at 23:16.22. Freshman Kelsey Brown followed in 44th (23:59.55) and junior Natalie Crain in 55th (24:42.72).
 
Ferguson and Martin finished just a minute behind the winner, Mihaela Susa, who had a time of 21:10.53.
 
The OU women entered the weekend ranked No. 13 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional poll.
 
The next race for Oklahoma is scheduled for Oct. 16 at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
