NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Track and Field program heads to Columbia, Mo., this weekend for the 2010 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships where the No. 4 women will be looking for a record finish in the meet and the No. 10 men look to complete the conference sweep after winning the Big 12 indoor crown. Action begins Friday morning and concludes Sunday evening inside the Audrey J. Walton Track and Field Stadium.

The women enter the meet ranked second among Big 12 teams at No. 4 behind No. 1 Texas A&M while the men are ranked third behind No. 1 Texas A&M and No. 4 Texas Tech. Both are looking to improve greatly on their finishes in 2009 when the women finished sixth and the men ninth.

Two athletes will be looking to defend 2009 titles as Luke Bryant competes in the discus and Will Claye takes to the runway in the triple jump. One other athlete will be competing in an event that she owns a Big 12 title in as Latoya Greaves faces the field in the 100-meter hurdles, an event she claimed the Big 12 crown in 2008 before redshirting in 2009. Scottesha Miller lays claim to the 2007 Big 12 long jump title, but no longer competes in the event.

Claye, who has only competed in two outdoor events this season while hampered with injuries, is currently ranked No. 4 in the Big 12 and No. 7 nationally in the triple jump while Bryant enters the meet No. 3 in the Big 12 and No. 7 nationally in the discus. Greaves is No. 2 in the Big 12 100-meter hurdles and No. 5 nationally.

Five Sooners enter the meet as the top-ranked athlete in their respective events. The throws ring owns four of the athletes, including three on the women's side. Karen Shump, the Big 12 indoor shot put champion, is No. 1 in the outdoor event while Brittany Borman is No. 1 in the discus as is Amy Backel in the javelin. Borman is also ranked second in the javelin while Shump is second in the discus. Tia Brooks, the indoor runner-up in the shot put, is No. 2 in the outdoor version.

On the men's side, the Big 12 indoor weight throw champion, K.P. Singh, is No. 1 in the hammer throw while Jacob Boone own's the conference's top mark in the 1,500-meter run after breaking the OU program record in the event earlier this season. The defending NCAA champion in the 110-meter hurdles, Ronnie Ash enters the meet ranked second in the event as is Eric Bailey in the longer hurdles event, the 400-meter hurdles. Highlighting the distance group with Boone is Jeremy Sudbury who is currently ranked second in the 10,000-meter run.

Both the Oklahoma men's and women's 4x100-meter relays enter the meet ranked third in the conference.
