Getting to Know You with Meagan Harrell

Throughout the 2010 season, SoonerSports.com provides an inside look into OU rowing. This week first varsity eight member Meagan Harrell is on the hot seat.

Favorite moment on the water...
My favorite moment on the water so far was last year in the Varsity 4 I was in and our boat won Big 12's in that particular event. Our coxswain at the time made a call and said “last 10 strokes for the Big 12 Championship”. Once we crossed the finish line in first, the boat suddenly erupted in this overwhelming joy and in that moment I knew Oklahoma was exactly where I was supposed to end up, so that by far is my favorite moment on the water so far.

Interests outside of rowing...
Biking, reading a good book, watching movies and playing any other sport

Person that most shaped my life...
My grandma because always she did was love me and teach me about life and the type of person I hope to be.

What is your favorite thing to do in Norman?
Favorite thing to do in Norman is go to Campus Corner and explore all the unique shops.

Driven, Loyal, Focused

Name one thing that fans don't know about you...
I don't like tomatoes

Why did you choose OU?
I chose to come to OU and follow Coach Crain here, when she came here I knew I wanted to continue to row for her, and that meant transferring to OU, Coach Crain is the reason why I chose OU.

What are your plans after college?
My plans after college is to start pursing a Masters degree and then try and find a coaching job. Coaching rowing or just staying involved in the sport someway are my immediate plans following college and of course I would love to get married and have a family one day.

What's your nickname? Reasoning behind it?
I don't have a nickname yet, maybe I'll get one by the end of the year.

Favorite aspect of OU Rowing team...
The unity of the team, we all know we can depend on each other and we were just good friends that if someone falls or is having a hard time there is always someone there to pick them up.

Grey's Anatomy

Harry Potter Series

If you could invite three people to dinner, who would they be?
Michael Jordan, Denzel Washington, and Coach K

Most cherished childhood memory?
Every summer I go fishing and tubing on my dad's boat.
