4x4 Relay Claims Alex Wilson Title

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Oklahoma men's 4x400-meter relay won the event's title at the Alex Wilson Invitational as members of the Oklahoma men's track and field program picked up three NCAA provisional qualifying marks at the meet, one of three NCAA Last Chance Qualifiers OU was in action at this weekend. The Virginia Tech Last Chance Qualifier saw hurdler Latoya Greaves clock two provisional qualifying marks in the 60-meter hurdles.

The quartet of Remuro Henry, Jarell Warren, Mookie Salaam and Eric Bailey won the event with a provisional qualifying time of 3:08.06, the third-fastest time of the season clocked by an OU mile relay this year. OU's 4x4 entered the weekend ranked eighth nationally.

In the nation's fastest distance medley relay of the season with 15 NCAA provisional qualifying marks recorded, the quartet of Eric Harasyn, Bailey, Chris Sweeney and Jacob Boone ran the second-fastest time in OU history to finish eighth in the event. The time of 9:34.66 was just over three seconds off the Oklahoma record of 9:31.38 set in 2009 by a team that included Sweeney and Boone.

Junior Scott Cooper recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:50.45 to finish 16th in the 800-meter run.

In Blacksburg, Va., Greaves clocked a time of 8.32 in the prelims of the event, followed by a time a 8.37 in the event's semifinals.

Select Oklahoma athletes now look forward to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held next weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
