Chattanooga, Tenn. – The University of Oklahoma women's rowing team finished its last day of fall competition at The Head of the Hooch Sunday. Two of the six Sooner boats fielded finished in the top 10 including the Sooners' best finish at the regatta in the open pair.

"I'm really proud of how our top end varsity athletes performed this weekend,” Head Coach Leeanne Crain said. “This was an extremely competitive field an to have five of our boats in the top 10 is a good indication that our efforts in practice are paying off."

In the championship singles event both boats finished in the top 20. The top boat, led by Heather House, finished 11th with a time of 21 minutes and 42.1 seconds. The second boat, led by Melea McCreary, finished 16th (23:26.4). The Sooners finished behind Duke (“A” 20:09.5, “B” 20:40.9, “C” 21:27.5) and Kansas (“A” 20:31.7, “B” 20:56.8, “C” 21:00, “D” 21:16.5)

In the open pairs, two of the four fielded boats finished in the Top 10. The “A” boat had the top finish of the weekend placing fourth (19:04.3). The “B” and “C” boats finished in ninth (19:22.2) and 14th (19:54.7). The “D” finished outside the top 20 in 27th place (21:08.3)

The Sooners will be back in competition to begin their championship season in the spring with the OU Invitational March 11-13.
