NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma women's track program climbed six spots to No. 15 in the latest national rankings released Tuesday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). While the women entered the top 15, the Oklahoma men remained in the top 10, coming in at No. 9.
Five women in top-10 individual rankings helped the women move up to its current spot, led by redshirt-freshman Karen Shump at No. 3 in the shot put. Charlotte Abrahamsen is fifth in the pentathlon followed by Ti'Anca Mock at seventh in the long jump. Scottesha Miller comes in at No. 9 in the 200-meter dash while Latoya Greaves rounds out the group at No. 10 in the 60-meter hurdles.
The men's team has five athletes accounting for six top-10 rankings in five different events. Oklahoma is the only program with two athletes in the top 10 of the 60-meter hurdles as Ronnie Ash is the nation's top-ranked hurdler and is joined in the top 10 by Malcolm Anderson at No. 8.
