NORMAN, Okla. - Three University of Oklahoma rowing incoming freshmen competed in national competition this summer. Meghan Farrell, Heather House and Rebecca Staff rowed at the U.S. Rowing Club Nationals held in Oak Ridge, Tenn., July 15-19.

Farrell's crew earned a gold medal in the Junior A 2x with a time of seven minutes, 59.44 seconds and a gold medal in the Junior A 4x posting a time of 7:17.16. Individually, Farrell earned a bronze in the Junior A 1x with a time of 8:33.94.

Heather House rowed for the Austin Rowing Club at the championships in three events. The Junior A 1x, the Junior A 4x and the Junior A 2x. House finished fifth in the Grand Final in the Junior A 2x with a time of 8:20.64.

Rebecca Staff is a Canadian citizen and earned a spot on the Can Am Mex team this summer. Staff raced in four events and finished in the grand finals in two of the four. Staff placed fourth in the Junior A 2x with a time of 8:10.25 and sixth in the Intermediate 2x with a time of 8:06.79. During the school year, Staff rowed with the Tempe Juniors along with teammate Farrell.

"It was great to see Meghan, Heather, and Rebecca racing at US Club Nationals," head coach Leeanne Crain said. "All three of them faced off in the grand final of the women's double, which was fun to watch. It will be nice to have them all on one team here at OU instead of competing against each other. They all will make an immediate impact on our team this fall. We're excited about the class we've signed, which includes these three, five more freshman and a transfer. It will be great to start year two with a full varsity roster."
